"THE PRE-1859 DRY ROUTE"
The Original Dry Route

     The Pre-1859 Dry Route branched from The Wet Route southwest of Pawnee Fork crossing to pursue an upland course to The Caches where it merged with The Wet Route. Later, it merged with The Wet Route 10 miles east of The Caches.

Physical Evidence: Multiple ruts are profoundly visible in the area of the marker. [note: Just the main rut at this location was worked under by a disc in 2003]
