Coon Creek Crossing West of Garfield, Pawnee County Kansas

This is the crossing of the Coon Creek on the Wet Route of the Santa Fe Trail. At this location is also the September 1-2 1825 campsite for the Santa Fe Trail Survey Team. This crossing is about one mile west of Garfield, Kansas on US 56. At this site cutdowns can be seen to the north of the highway bridge a short distance. Both markers are on one limestone post on the north side of the highway, east of the Coon Creek bridge.
