This is the site of Fort Dodge, Kansas. The fort location is now the Kansas Soldiers Home. This is also the Junction of The Fort Hays/Fort Dodge Road with The Wet Route of the Santa Fe Trail. The marker is located just to the west of the Kansas Soldiers Home sign on the south side of U. S. 400. The fort still has several buildings in use from the trail days.
