Fort Mann Marker

DESIGNATION: Fort Mann
LOCATION: From the Site C-31 Marker, continue west 3.3 miles to 2nd Ave. in Dodge City, right .1 mile, left 3 miles on U.S. 50/400, left .2 mile, and right on Kettle Way .4 mile to the marker on the left. Left of the marker .2 mile is the location of Fort Mann, just north of the Arkansas River, but south of the Santa Fe Trail .3 miles.

HISTORIC DESCRIPTION: Fort Mann was established as a repair depot for army vehicles in 1847.
DISTANCE: From the Junction of The Wet and Dry Routes (Site C-29), 10.05 miles, Marcy. Marcy's mileage is mistaken by about 1 mile.
COMMENTS:The fort was located 300 yards south of the marker. The landowner reported that deep plowing uncovered the remains of the fort at this location.
