LOCATION: From the Site C-32 Marker, continue west on Kettle Way .4 mile to the marker. The fort sat just west of the marker.

HISTORIC DESCRIPTION: Fort Atkinson, established as an U.S. Army post in 1850, was originally called New Post.
DISTANCE: From Pawnee Fork Crossing (Site C-2), 76 miles. Folsom. This figure compares favorably to the mileage recorded from Pawnee Fork to Fort Mann which was about 1 mile from The Caches: 74.43 miles, Kendrick; 73.07 miles, Marcy.
COMMENTS: The fort was located immediately west of the marker.
