This painting, by Chicago artist Max Gundloch, depicts freight wagons crossing the Pawnee River at a point below Jenkins Hill on the propety of the Larned State Hospital. There is a large photographic reproduction of the cover painting on display in the lobby of the Administration Building of the Larned State Hospital. The reproduction was presented by officers of the Santa Fe Railway Company to the late J. T. Naramore, M.D., in 1950. Dr. Naramore was superintendent of the Larned State Hospital from 1945 to 1961.
This reproduction of "Pawnee Creek Crossing" also appears on a copy of the 1976 Bicentennial Calendar of the Santa Fe Railroad.
The painting and signature below are from the lobby of the Administration Building of the Larned State Hospital.
