TOPOGRAPHICAL EVIDENCE: Walnut Creek.
PHYSICAL EVIDENCE: A cutdown on the north bank of the creek is located 60 yards west of the marker.

HISTORIC DESCRIPTION: Crossing of Walnut Creek on the Fort Hays-Fort Dodge Road.
DISTANCE: From Big Timbers Creek crossing (Site I-6), 7 miles, Davidson.
COMMENTS: The Fort Hays/Fort Dodge Road as indicated on the original township survey map ran 1/4 mile west of the cutdown. A trading ranch was established near the crossing in the Post-Santa Fe Trail era of the Fort Hays/Fort Dodge Road. Originally owned by a Mr. Fink, it was later operated by Alexander Harvey.
