On US 56 about two miles west of Gardner, Kansas is a small roadside park. In this park is a Kansas Historical Marker telling the story of the Junction of the Santa Fe Trail and the Oregon Trail as they split and go their seperate ways. At the junction, the Orgeon Trail went to the northwest and the Santa Fe Trail went west to the town of Lanesfield, Kansas.
