West of the Larned State Hospital Grounds
In 1865, Samuel Parker abandoned his trading ranche near the Pawnee Fork Wet Route Crossing and moved to this location. Changing hands several times, the ranche was finally operated by A. H. Boyd, 1868-1872.
From Pawnee Fork crossing at Boyd's Ranche, the Later Dry Route ran westward along the south side of the Pawnee River to the mail station established at nearby Fort Larned, Kansas.
