Historic Adobe Museum Santa Fe Trail Display

     Santa Fe Trail display in the Historic Adobe Museum Complex located in Ulysses, Kansas. This complex is listed on the State Register of Historic Places. The adobe building was constructed in 1937-38, as a machine shop for Grant Conty. This was one of six WPA projects funded in Grant County. The one story adobe building measures 50 x 154 feet. The walls are composed of adobe blocks laid with mud mortar. Upon completion, the exterior adobe walls were covered with cement stucco and white washed. Adobe fireplaces with brick hearths stand in the two front rooms.
