"Markers and Ruts on the Warner Ranch"
On the Warner Ranch at the Hodgemen/Ford County Line is the location of these markers and ruts. The rut is the dark line of grass just above the Wet/Dry Routes Chapter Marker in this picture. The other Marker was made by Mr. John Warner out of a rolled ball of Barbed Wire he got from a farm near Spearville, Kansas. The stand for the Ball Of Wire is made out of concrete taken from an old grain solo base. Around the base inscribed in the concrete is this information. "Fort Hays Fort Dodge Trail leaves Ford County and enters Hodgeman County here. The Trail Ruts can be seen on either side of the Marker" On the north corner of the base is the date of 1982, also below the date is the Warner Brand. Just to the right of the date on the northwest side of the base is a drawing of a covered wagon.
This photo is looking south from the County Line road towards the Sawlog Creek Crossing about one half mile south of this location. These markers are about one and one half miles east of US 283 nine miles north of Wright, Kansas on the Warner Ranch in Ford County, Kansas.
