Charles Rath

CHARLES RATH

Following the death of George Peacock, Charles Rath assumed the proprietorship of the ranche at Walnut Creek. Three years later, Rath and associates formed the first corporation in Kansas "for the purpose of building a toll bridge over Walnut Creek, in Peketon County, State of Kansas, where the great Santa Fe Road crosses said stream." Following his tenure at Walnut Creek, Rath was prominently involved in the mercantile and buffalo business, both in Dodge City and the Texas panhandle.
