At the November 7, 1993, meeting in Spearville, Kansas the Wet/Dry Routes Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail established the Faye Anderson Award.
This award will annually grant a lifetime membership in the Chapter to an individual or group who has made significant contributions to the interpretation and preservation of the Santa Fe Trail.
Mrs. Anderson, a charter member of the Chapter, died unexpectedly in November 1991. The Chapter established the award in her name to honor the enthusiasm and devotion she brought to the Chapter's activities.
The Parker's Ranche Marker, located near the west end of present day Schnack Park in Larned, Kansas was dedicated to the memory of Faye Anderson, one of the charter members of the Wet/Dry Routes Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail.

Fay M. Anderson, 79, died Nov. 16, 1991, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus in Larned, Kansas. Born September 4, 1912, in Randall, the daughter of Arthur E. and Lilly M. Patch Smith, she had been a resident of Larned since 1984 having moved from Randall. She married Ralph C. Anderson Aug. 14, 1938, in Randall. He died April 24, 1971. She was a retired teacher, manager and owner of a produce company and was Jewell County treasurer.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of First Christian Church, Gleaners Class, JFR Club, CIC Extension Unit, Santa Fe Trail Center , Wet/Dry Route Chapter and LIAR-MU, all of Larned, Rebekah Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star Port Chapter, both of Jewell, Birthday Gals and Progressive Study Club, both of Randall, and Order of the Eastern Star Golden Sheaf Chapter No. 226 of Great Bend, Kansas.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan M. Forrest of Larned; one sister, Velda Behrends of Concordia; and two grandchildren.
Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday November 19, 1991, at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned. An additional service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Randall Community Church in Randall with the Rev. Robert Weitzeil officiating. Burial will be at Wallace Cemetery in Jewell, Kansas.
The Faye Anderson Award is given annually by the Wet/Dry Routes Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail in recognition of some person/s or organization who has made a significant contribution to the interpretation and /or preservation of the Santa Fe Trail.
I. The Award will be presented at the Winter Meeting of the Chapter.
II. A. A committee of five Chapter members will be composed of one person each from Pawnee, Edwards, Ford Counties, and two persons from other counties.
B. The committee members will be appointed by the Chapter's officers beginning January, to serve as follows.
C. One person each from Pawnee, Edwards, and Ford Counties will be appointed to serve a two year term; two persons from other counties will be appointed to serve a one year term.
D. The officers shall appoint a chairperson who will be responsible for the committee's functions.
E. The Chairperson will submit to the officers by December 1st of each year the recommendation of the committee for final approval of the award.
III. The officers shall be responsible for the purchasing and awarding of a plaque appropriate for the award. In addition to the plaque, the awardee shall also be granted a lifetime membership in the Chapter.
IV. The committee will present recommendations to the chapter officers for approval.
V. There will be a permanent chapter plaque to add names of the awardees.
