"Faye Anderson Award"
January 18, 2009
The Wet/Dry Route Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail is pleased to announce that the City of Larned was selected to receive the Faye Anderson Award presented annually to some individual or group who has made a significant contribution to the propagation and preservation of the Santa Fe Trail. The award is named in honor of Faye Anderson, a charter member of the chapter.
Accepting the award was Mayor Robert Pivonka at the Chapter's winter meeting on January 18, 2009, in Kinsley, Kansas. Over the years the city has cooperated with our chapter in numerous marking projects and more importantly their help with our lastest project, the "Zebulon Pike Plaza" located in the Snack-Lowery Park near the site of the Pawnee River Crossing in the southwest part of the City of Larned, Kansas. Our chapter is very proud to have them as our partner in our effort to preserve, protect and interpret the history of the Larned, Kansas area.
