Santa Fe Trail

"Faye Anderson Award"
January 20, 2002

Cecil Johnson     Alice Clapsaddle

Presented to Cecil Johnson of Larned, Kansas at the January 20th meeting of the Wet/Dry Routes Chapter was the Faye Anderson Award. A well qualified recipient, Cecil among other things, is largely responsible for the construction of the cedar frames for the ten interpretive markers placed in recent years by the chapter.

Interestingly, one of those markers is situated on Johnson's property, three miles southwest of Larned on U.S. 56 highway. This is the site of Forks in Santa Fe road where the Dry Route originally forked from the Wet Route.

This acreage is part of the homestead filed by Cecil's grandfather William Johnson, in 1873.
