"Faye Anderson Award"

Faye Anderson's Daughter, Joan Forest presented the 2003 Faye Anderson Award, to Craig Crease of Shannee, Kansas, who was accepting for the Kansas City Area Historic Trails Association, a group dedicated to marking the trails in the Kansas City, Kansas/Missouri area, along with other numerous projects. The group functions as a research group as well as promoting other worthy endeavors including:
Publishing 8900 copies of "Historic Frontier Trail Maps"
Marking 361 historic sites with signage and monitoring the same signage
Presentations to schools, colleges and local festivals
Exhibits to schools and festivals
Steering committees for conventions and 2003 Symposium for Santa Fe Trail
Pike Bi Centennial committee
Research on numerous historical sites in the Kansas City, Kansas/Missouri AreaThe Kansas City Area Historic Trails Association has been in existence for ten years.
Faye Anderson was a devoted member of the Wet/Dry Routes Chapter and Trail History in general. The Award is given annually, starting in 1994, by the Wet/Dry Routes Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail in recognition of a person/s or organization who has made a significant contribution to the interpretation and or preservation of the Santa Fe Trail. This award was presented by the Wet/Dry Routes Chapter at the January 12th, 2003 meeting in Kinsley, Kansas.
