Fall Minutes
The Wet/Dry Routes Chapter met for its fall meeting at Burdett, Kansas on October 17, 2004. A report was given with regard to the $518.29 profit derived from the meal served by the chapter at the 2004 Santa Fe Trail Rendezvous. A hearty thank you goes to Rusti Gardner and her helpers who prepared and served the delicious meal. In other business, the Kansas History Day Committee recommended that the chapter cease offering a cash award for entries related to the Santa Fe Trail as there has been little or no participation in recent years. The committee will report as to other options for promoting the study of the Santa Fe Trail in area schools. Also, the Chapter approved the creation of a memorial fund for Dr. Richard Dryden. Monies donated will pay for an interpretive marker to be placed in his honor. The Santa Fe Trail Seminar approved by the chapter is scheduled for May 7, 2005. Announcements were made with regard to the seminar's theme and the box lunch to be served.

In attendance were members of the Fort Dodge/Dodge City/Cimarron Chapter who conducted their business meeting concurrent with the Wet/Dry Routes Chapter's business session.

Following, a slide program was presented by President Clapsaddle on the Fort Hays-Fort Dodge Road. The winter meeting is scheduled for January 23, 2005 at the Municipal Building in Kinsley, Kansas.

Meal Served, Another Success
The meal served by the chapter at the 2004 Rendezvous was well received. Many unsolicited compliments were received. A big round of applause goes to the Chuck Wagon Committee chair Rusti Gardner and her kitchen assistants: Barbara German, Barbara Koester, Jack Gardner, Mildon Yeager and Mike Seymour. Thanks also to the servers: Guy Snyder, Thelmaire Wilhite, Chuck Frankenfeld, Dale and Karen Otte, Dorothy and Lee Kroh, David and Alice Clapsaddle, and Merlene Baird.

Ninety-nine people were served. The project produced a profit of $518.29. This amount will pay for five interpretive markers with some change left over.

Dryden Memorial
At the fall meeting, the chapter approved a memorial for Dr. Richard Dryden in the form of an interpretive marker to be placed in his honor. The marker will cost about $100.00. Since the fall meeting, the Fort Dodge/Dodge City/Cimarron Chapter has joined our chapter in sponsoring the project. Funds are thus intact to pay for the marker. Additional details will be announced at the winter meeting.

Santa Fe Trail Seminar
The Chapter Santa Fe Trail Seminar is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2005. The seminar will feature quality speakers on subjects long neglected by trail enthusiasts. Make plans now to attend. Our Chapter needs to be well represented at the seminar it sponsors. Think ahead to invite a friend to accompany you to the seminar.

Winter Meeting
The winter meeting is scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the Municipal Building in Kinsley. Officers for 2005 will be elected and the Faye Anderson Award will be presented.
